# Access & uninstall

::: info In short
- **Team:** everyone you invite has full access: build, launch, stop and deploy tests, and change settings.
- **AI assistants:** connected through the MCP server, they act as the person who connected them and can't launch, pause or deploy.
- **Uninstall:** delete the snippet from your site and the Dalton Pixel from your checkout. Visitors then see your original pages.
- **Your data:** returned or deleted after the contract ends.

## Who can change your site

| Who | What they can do |
| --- | --- |
| **Team members** | Everything: build, launch, stop and deploy tests, change settings, invite others. Invite and remove people under [Team](/settings/team-and-notifications). |
| **AI assistants (MCP)** | What the person who connected them can see. They draft tests but can't launch, pause or deploy; the one exception is a typo fix of up to 20 characters on a running test. Every action is logged. See [MCP server](/advanced/mcp-server#access-and-data). |
| **Dalton's agents** | Build drafts and suggest tests inside the app. Nothing goes live until someone on your team launches it. |

Every test goes live through a launch review in the editor, and a running test can be stopped at any time.

## Turn Dalton off

| To... | Do this |
| --- | --- |
| See one page without Dalton | Add `?dalton_disable=1` to the URL. Only that page view is affected. |
| Stop one test | **Stop** it in the editor. It stops for every visitor. |
| Change a deployed winner | Open the test and use **Edit deployment**. |
| Remove Dalton completely | Follow the steps below. |

## Uninstall

1. **Remove the snippet** from your theme or template: the `<script id="dalton-installation-script">` block and the two `preconnect` lines in the `<head>`. On Shopify, check every theme you might publish. If you added it through Google Tag Manager, remove the tag there.
2. **Remove the Dalton Pixel.** On Shopify, delete the `Dalton Pixel` under **Settings → Customer events** ([steps](/advanced/shopify-pixel)). On other sites, remove the pixel code from your order confirmation page.
3. **Clear your site's cache**, then check the page source no longer contains `dalton`.

## What happens when you uninstall

- **Visitors see your original pages.** Deployed winners are served by the Dalton script, so they stop with it. To keep a winning change, build it into your theme first.
- **Search engines are unaffected.** They never saw Dalton's changes ([SEO](/technical/performance#seo)).
- **Leftover browser storage:** Dalton's cookies and session cache expire after 24 hours. The device ID stays until the visitor clears their browser storage ([Cookies & storage](/technical/cookies-and-storage)).
- **Your data** is kept until the contract ends, then returned or deleted at your choice; without instructions, within 45 to 90 days. See [How long data is kept](/technical/privacy-security#how-long-data-is-kept).
