1. Copy your snippet
In Dalton, go to Connectors → Tracking → Dalton Script and click View instructions. Your snippet is ready to copy, with your account filled in. Share with developer creates a link with the snippet and instructions; your developer doesn't need a Dalton login.
2. Paste it in the head of your site

It loads without slowing your page down (Performance & SEO).
Platform notes
- Shopify: the snippet lives in one theme. Paste it in the published theme, and check it's still there when you publish a new or duplicated theme.
- Next.js, React and other single-page sites: Next.js re-applies changes on its own. On other React or single-page sites, turn on Reapply changes under Options in the install panel, so a test stays applied when your site redraws part of the page.
- Google Tag Manager: possible, but it loads later than a tag in
<head>, so a tested element can show the original for a moment.
A strict Content Security Policy or firewall needs two domains allowed: see CSP and firewalls.
3. Make sure purchases arrive
Tests are decided on purchases and revenue, so Dalton needs to see them.

4. Verify
- In the install panel, click Next: verify installation. The Dalton Script row on Connectors shows Installed.
- Place a test order. Under Settings → Conversions, Purchase should no longer say not detected.
If Verify doesn't find the script: clear your site's cache and try a private window, check you edited the published theme, and look for dalton-installation-script in the page source. More in Troubleshooting.
5. Add the Chrome extension
Everyone who builds tests should add the Dalton Chrome extension. With it, the editor shows your real store, images and styling included, and you can browse to any page from the editor. Without it, some pages don't render well in the editor. Preview on this device also works even before the script is on your site. Desktop Chrome only.
